This years celebrations were initiated with a poster making competition where students of class V and VI created posters in their art and craft lessons during the week (13th to 17th October 2019). Students were given A3 sheets to prepare the posters within the span of an hour. The students created captivating, colourful and heart-warming poster promoting awareness and action for uplifting the healthy diet of people, reducing global hunger and leading a healthy lifestyle.
The students of class VII, VIII and IX spread the awareness by creating and writing inspirational slogans on the placards made and decorated by the pre-primary section students.
Students were asked to participate in the world wide poster making competition organized by the United Nation. The students were given the link to upload their posters on the FAO contest website by 8th November 2019.
The winners of the poster and slogan making competition were awarded certificates on Sunday, 20th October 2019.
The second activity undertaken was the photo-booth, where students spread awareness through selfies.
The third in the series of activities undertaken was Food Donation Camp which was organized for the entire school on Monday, 14th October 2019. Students were given a list of non – perishable items. Students were asked to place their contributions the felicitous boxes kept in the school play-area. The collected food items were packed together and donated to a food bank. The whole activity developed a positive attitude among the students to optate good for other people as they optate for themselves. The ecstasy to donate the food items was visible through the smile on the student’s faces as Rasulallah saw states: there is no deed greater than feeding the hungry.
The fourth and final activity in regard to the world food day celebrations undertaken was a talk on healthy diet by an expert dietician, Tasneem ben Lokahndwala, on Tuesday, 15th October 2019.
Tasneem ben enlightened the youth of today on nutritious and healthy balanced diet and how it affects our life. The event developed a positive attitude and an inspiring perspective among the students regarding the necessity of a healthy nutritious diet.
